von Trapp Farmstead is a third generation family dairy farm at Waitsfield, Vermont, making award winning organic cheese.
The farm works regeneratively, rotating crops and pasture, feeding the soil with manure rather than chemical fertilisers, and sending the whey from cheesemaking to its pigs so nothing is wasted.
The farm store sells the cheeses alongside organic yoghurt, raw milk and pastured meat, while the online shop ships cheese boxes, gift cards and a rolling cheese subscription. Farm tours with a cheese tasting run in season.

Beautiful secluded area with a nice view, relaxing drive, and AMAZING cheese.
Really nice spot!
Beautiful farm and great store. Excellent cheese.
Best cheese, meat products, and beverages alcoholicand non! It's the whole package. Great one stop shopping.
Lojinha afastada da rodovia principal mas o passeio é bucólico. A loja é pequena mas comprei pães deliciosos (baguette "francesa" e pão de canela e passas). Produtos da fazenda: queijos e mapple. Gostei!
A nice little shop with an extensive selection of meat and wine and a few cheeses. It’s fairly expensive and there didn’t seem to be lunches or breakfasts to go, but it’s a great stop for a group of people who want to buy some crackers and cheese, or just some meat to go.
Our final stop of the Cheese trail after going north. Oma and Mt Alice are always a hit but I finally tried Mad River Blue, sold! It's a lovely little well appointed store, I highly recommend a visit.
Rebuilding the food system, from the farm up

We had a farm tour with Dave and it was such a special experience on their land. The tour was scheduled for an hour but we ended up staying for two talking and learning about dairy operations and cheesemaking at the farm. You could see that he was very passionate about this place and offered valuable insights into the art behind cheesemaking. The highlight was the cheese tasting at the end with the group trying all the products they sell inside. The drive up to the farm was very scenic too with fall colours popping all over the area.
🐓If you are looking for a drive in the mountains and beautiful views, then this is for you! If you wanted von Trapp trivia and artifacts, this is not the place. 🐓A family member had seen the name and googled the directions not knowing that it was just as it said: a farm store. 🐓This review is to just help in setting expectations- because ours were all wrong! 🫤 Go for the drive, and enjoy the immense beauty of the area-and be sure to buy a cow sticker at the farm store!
This farm deserves more than 5 stars 🤩 I don't even know what I liked more, but definitely want to come back again and again! #1. Very quiet and clean farm - it's not close by the road, gorgeous nature views. #2. You can see cows grazing just across the farm. #3. Milk is selling only on weekends. #4. Excellent cheese, yogurt, etc. #5. They also raise pigs and have a great pork meat selection. #6. And many many more... P. S. - Ms. Rachel was in the shop the day we visited and she is an absolutely amazing person, so interesting and pleasant 😍
