Ahimsa Eco Farm
Raw milk
Ahimsa Eco Farm is a not for profit slaughter free dairy at Pilton in Rutland where calves stay with their mothers, selling raw and pasteurised organic pasture milk, gouda style cheese and ghee.
Ahimsa Eco Farm at Pilton near Oakham in Rutland is home to the UK's first slaughter free milk.
The farm follows the traditional Indian principle of ahimsa, meaning non violence, so no cow, calf or bull is ever killed, calves stay with their mothers and the herd until naturally weaned, artificial insemination is avoided, and the cows graze freely on organic pasture and are partially milked by hand.
The milk is delivered to customers weekly and there is a long waiting list. You can support the herd by becoming a member, sponsoring a cow, or booking a cow experience, from cuddling and brushing to feeding and hand milking, and the online farm shop sells cheese and merchandise, with glamping pods at the farm too.

Amazing place, amazing cows, amazing people.
Lovely, peaceful place. The cows are beautiful creatures who seem to genuinely love attention and care. Took my best friend cow cuddling for a birthday treat and she loved it. Had a wonderful time. Pod was cosy and comfortable.
Very nice people let us do so much stuff in the farm always there when you need them.
