I visited this farm shop for the first time on Wednesday. I bought eggs, butter, kimchi, and a few different fruits. The staff was very friendly and took the time to explain everything. I really loved the pasture-raised eggs. A carton was around $8, and they were definitely worth it. I wasn’t a big fan of the butter. It was a large brick for about $12–14. It had a very authentic farm-style taste, but it just wasn’t my personal preference. The kimchi was great and tasted truly homemade. The small jar was around $12–14. There wasn’t a huge selection of fresh produce, but some of the fruit was excellent. The strawberries were delicious. I bought three different kinds of apples, and most were very juicy and flavorful. However, one variety looked fine on the outside but was slightly bad inside, with some discoloration. The peaches were disappointing. At about $2 each, I expected better quality. They weren’t juicy or particularly tasty, and I regret buying them for that price. Overall, it was a good experience, and I will definitely come back. Next time I’ll probably stick to the eggs, strawberries, and apples. One helpful note: they do have parking, but I couldn’t find it at first and ended up parking a little farther away.
Rebuilding the food system, from the farm up

What a beautiful article! It spoke to me on so many levels. I love coffee and of course I love Komitas. The question of what informs our Armenian identity and the interconnectedness of all the cultures, in that area in particular, is so very important to all who care about its preservation. Thank you, David. Very thought-provoking.
I trust Dave’s Backyard Farm. Meats are labelled with which farm they came from. Dave is committed to providing local organic foods. In the days of lab-grown meat I am so glad. On top of that Dave & Ryan are very friendly and helpful in finding whatever is needed. Prices reflect food being organic.
Lovely little market with tons of locally sourced goodies! I have driven past it for years and didn’t even know it was there, but I’m so glad I discovered it. I purchased quite a few things, but the chuck roast, eggs, and raw honey were all absolutely delicious and the little flower bouquet I bought (almost 3 weeks ago now) is still beautifully blooming. I plan to go back today for more eggs and hopefully some produce. Definitely a spot I would recommend!
Dave’s Backyard Farms is our favorite store in the Philly area!! We are regular weekly customers, because the quality of products are second to none!! From selecting wild boar to make fajitas; to enjoying local strawberries with organic honey vanilla ice cream… every week is a new culinary adventure for our family!! We highly recommend bypassing the chain grocery and shopping local at Dave’s. We feel so lucky to have discovered this gem.
