The best farms

  1. 1Mêl Gwenyn GruffyddMêl Gwenyn GruffyddHoney farm in Carmarthen5 (130 reviews)Mêl Gwenyn Gruffydd produces raw Welsh honey from its base at Bryn Bach in Dryslwyn. The 100% pure Welsh wildflower honey is unpasteurised, gathered by bees foraging on Welsh wildflowers, and has won multiple Great Taste Awards in recent years. Alongside their own jars they stock honeys from bee farming friends, including Welsh heather, French wildflower, French lavender and British wildflower. The shop serves beekeepers as well as honey lovers, selling live bees, hives, suits, smokers and honey harvesting kit, plus beeswax candles, skincare and hampers. Everything can be ordered online, or you can drop in and say hello on a weekday between 9am and 4.30pm.
  2. 2Gwenyn Maes ChwarelGwenyn Maes ChwarelHoney farm in LlanelliGwenyn Maes Chwarel, The Quarry Field Bees, is a family run apiary in Carmarthenshire in Wales. The bees forage freely across the surrounding countryside, and the honey is a polyfloral wildflower blossom honey, gently extracted and only minimally filtered so it keeps traces of its natural pollen. The beekeepers take an evidence based approach to their craft, using DNA analysis and laboratory testing to map the floral origins of each batch. Honey is sold by the jar for delivery, with orders placed through the farm's website.
  3. 3Beelong ApiariesBeelong ApiariesHoney farmBeelong Apiaries is a family run beekeeping business based in Llanelli, with hives kept across Carmarthenshire and Gower. Alongside raw Welsh honey the apiary breeds and sells queen bees, nucleus colonies and package bees, aiming to raise calm, productive stock that benefits local beekeepers as well as their own hives. Their Welsh wildflower honey is sold in jars and bulk buckets through the online shop, which also carries beeswax products such as candles and wax melts made in quieter periods. Order online for delivery, or contact the apiary to arrange anything in person.
