Butterbox Farm in Scaynes Hill, West Sussex has been in the same family since the 1920s.
Today it carries 140 Dexter cattle, 800 sheep and a growing number of pigs living in the woodland. Pat, who began the Dexter herd with her late husband John in the 1970s, still checks her cattle every morning and evening. The Dexters, the smallest breed of cattle in the world, are grown slowly on a grass only diet.
Their beef is available weekly from the farm, which holds a pop-up farm shop every Friday and Saturday selling homegrown beef, pork and lamb, with delivery also on offer.

Love this farm, the shop is filled with great quality farm meat every Friday and Saturday for the public. 10-3pm.
Cute little farm to look around with a well stocked farm show and quiet yard with coffee truck that serves cakes and other bits.
Absolutely delightful place and everyone was so friendly.

Really nice place to visit. Looking forward to going back when the fields are not so wet to do the farm trek. Not cheap in the shop, but quality goods on offer, so you pay for what you get.

Wow this is a real find in the Sussex countryside! Visited this farm pop up shop, where you meet the actual farmers selling their farm produce. I was able to see all of the animals (piglets and cute small cows), and chatted at length with the farmer. So amazing being able to support local farmers. Took home lots of home grown produce (all their own 100% grass fed meat) and everything on their shelves is from within 15miles of their farm. What a find! To top it off, everything is completely delicious. Open Saturdays 10-3, def check it out! We will definitely be back in the New Year!
