Every time I’m in Sussex or the South Downs, I make a point of coming here to stock up on vegetables. Quite simply, they’re the tastiest I know — and that includes everything I’ve had in London. The produce is consistently beautiful: vibrant, freshly harvested, and full of real flavour. These are vegetables that actually taste like themselves. It’s a joy to know exactly where my food comes from, and even more so to see the land it’s grown on — a reminder of how food should be produced, with care for the soil, the seasons, and the wider environment. Their veg boxes are exceptional and wonderfully varied throughout the year. I’ve had veg boxes elsewhere where winter becomes an endless rotation of potatoes and onions, but here there’s always something interesting, thoughtful, and seasonal — even in the colder months. You can feel the rhythm of the seasons without ever getting bored. I genuinely wish I lived closer so I could order their boxes regularly. If you value flavour, sustainability, and truly local food, this place is something special.
The veg from Laines is second to none. I’ve had all sorts from them and it’s always lush, full of flavour, colour and nourishment. This is proper amazing produce from the richest soils in the south east. I’ve been there to meet the farmers and it’s a really special place in a landscape.

Without a doubt the finest vegetables I’ve eaten, always fresh, always delicious! Laines farm is a remarkable place, the care they show to the land is reflected in the wonderful produce they sell.
Farm shop not operating since 2020 (but they might reopen the shop soon! Watch this space!!) In the meantime if you want excellent, organic, seasonal, fresh, locally grown veg and fruit you can order a weekly veg box... Or visiting their stall at lewes friday market, or cuckfield monthly saturday market in the church. Every 2nd sat of the month!
The Laines veg box is an absolute delight! Easy to order/collect on the website, always a great variety and we look forward to the week’s cooking with seasonal, quality, organic produce. I love everything about it.
