Maycottage Goats Milk Soap is a cottage industry in the Dorset countryside near Wimborne, built around a small herd of registered British Toggenburg goats who free range in the paddock alongside the chickens and sleep at night in stables at the bottom of the garden.
The goats are milked once a day and managed as naturally and holistically as possible, with homeopathy and herbs in place of chemicals, and no chemicals are ever used on their grazing or hay.
The milk goes two ways: into handmade cold press soap with no chemical additives, artificial fragrances or colours, and sold as raw goat milk, primarily in summer when there is excess beyond soap making, as demand outstrips what the small herd produces. The Weston A Price London map lists the raw milk as available directly from the farm, with a stall at Wimborne Farmers Market on the third Saturday of each month, 9am to 1pm. Soaps and shampoo bars are sold through the website and local stockists.
