Fife Dexters is a small organically managed farm near St Andrews in North East Fife, home to a herd of about 50 mainly pedigree Dexter cattle, with views over St Andrews and the North Sea.
The beef is certified 100% grass fed by the Pasture for Life Association and the farm is certified organic by the Soil Association. The cattle spend their entire lives outside, grazing clover, herb and wildflower rich pastures and woodland in summer and eating the farm's own hay and haylage in winter, growing slowly and naturally on a pasture based diet alone.
The beef is normally sold locally in 10kg boxes 2 to 3 times a year from June to October, hung for around 28 days and cut, vacuum packed and labelled by a local artisan butcher. The farm has announced that box sales are paused for the time being after the closure of a local abattoir and the departure of its butcher, though enquiries are still welcomed by email.
