Fields Place Goats is a family goat dairy in Lecanto, Florida raising Nubian and Nigerian Dwarf dairy goats.
The family began keeping goats for the health benefits of raw milk after a grandson could not tolerate any available formula. They are licensed with the State of Florida to sell their goat's milk for pet consumption, which is the only way raw milk can be sold in Florida, and the milk also goes into cheese, kefir, yogurt, ice cream and soaps. Milk is sold in half gallon containers.
The goats graze grass pasture and forage, are housed in clean stalls at night, and are fed perennial peanut hay, a grain mixture with soaked alfalfa, beet pulp and sunflower seeds, with minerals free choice. The entire herd has tested negative for CAE, Johne's disease, Q fever and toxoplasmosis, and the family leans on herbal dewormers and holistic care, using conventional medicine when needed and always observing milk withdrawal periods. They also breed and show their goats.
