Meadowlark Hearth is a 492 acre certified organic and biodynamic farm near Scottsbluff, Nebraska, growing open pollinated seed with a vegetable CSA, grass fed cattle and Berkshire pigs.
Meadowlark Hearth spreads over 492 acres at nearly 4,000 feet in western Nebraska, on land near Scottsbluff that Beth Corymb's grandparents homesteaded.
Beth and Nathan Corymb, who trained biodynamically and founded the Turtle Tree Biodynamic Seed Initiative in 1994, began farming the site in 2010. The land is certified organic and Demeter certified biodynamic for seed growing, with 140 acres of irrigated crop ground over the Ogallala aquifer.
The farm's offer is open pollinated vegetable seed first, including heirloom varieties, from cabbage, onions, carrots and beets through lettuce, tomatoes, peppers, squash and wheat. Alongside the seed the farm produces bedding plants, a vegetable CSA, grass fed cows and Berkshire pigs, and runs classes in seed growing and vegetable fermentation, internships, a seed festival and an ancestral skills gathering. A sister nonprofit, the Living Environment Foundation, carries the education and research work.
