Heritage Fields Farm
Heritage Fields Farm is David Derrick's 40 acre vegetable farm in Irmo, South Carolina, established 1999, selling produce picked fresh daily at its own farm stand on Broad River Road.
Heritage Fields Farm was established in the summer of 1999, when David Derrick was 14 years old and started with two rows of tomatoes in his mother's garden.
Today the award winning farmer plants more than 40 acres with over 30 types of vegetables through all months of the year, everything picked fresh daily from the fields and sold at the farm's own produce building on Broad River Road in Irmo, South Carolina.
David farms using Integrated Pest Management, an approach built on crop rotation, beneficial insects and disease resistant cultivars to greatly reduce pesticide use, and his goal since 1999 has been fresh local produce at a reasonable price for the community. Across the road sit Dot's Iris Garden, with 800 iris varieties open each April and May, and Charles' antique store and blacksmith shop, and the stand also carries handmade seasonal crafts and baked cakes.
