Gibson's Farm Shop

Several consistent poor experiences in the coffee shop have made me think this is just the way it is run. The first time, I thought it was a one off. The brunette waitress who served us on Friday 17 July was almost openly hostile. No one came to seat us, we had to approach the counter (there’s a sign saying wait here to be seated) despite hearing chatting and laughing behind the counter. Then she wasn’t interested in taking an order, so after waiting at our table another considerable time we again had to approach her. Coffee scalding hot on one of the hottest days, served with hot milk! Croissant served with no butter just plonked on a plate. But it was her attitude that was the worst. Went in again yesterday, Saturday 25 July. Same again, waited to be seated but this time a friendly woman called over to tell us to sit down, which we did. After waiting absolutely ages for the waitress (it was the miserable brunette again), I actually saw her taking the order of a couple who came in about 10 minutes after us. That was enough, blow this, we walked out as she gormlessly watched us. We also had previous experiences with the food which is why we now only go for coffee, but we won’t be doing that anymore now. It’s a shame because it could be such a lovely cafe.

Visited the cafe with my husband and our 2 children, arrived and seated in hot conservatory area at 11.57, on the hottest day of the year so far, was handed a pile of menus. As I went to sit down after strapping my child into the highchair, a different waitress arrived and asked what we wanted, I told her, while still standing, I hadn't looked as we had just arrived. She proceeded to rudely tell us she was going to have to take the menus away as breakfast was over. A menu we had not requested and was unaware did not cover the day. She came back at 11.58 with lunch menus that started at 12.15 and walked off. 15 minutes later no one came back to take order, not even drinks, others sat and served around us instantly. Children turned cranky and we had to leave anyway as it was far too hot. Rude and then non existant staff in an almost empty cafe. Shame as previously service was slow but polite even on mothers day. Shop itself lovely, helpful staff but will not be going back to the cafe.

My all time favourite farm shop and it’s right down the road from Aylesham! Such a great range of fresh food, I highly recommend the Gilda Brie and Spring Onion bread, and their fresh pasties and sandwiches in the open fridge, very reasonable and full of delicious filling. There’s a lovely café as well and you can feed the sheep for £1 a bag at certain times of the year.

A lovely store where you can get high quality food and other groceries. The staff were friendly and helpful. The selection of fresh food and general groceries was extensive enough to cover all one's requirements. The prices may be more than a regular supermarket but the quality matches it.

A nice, big shop with a nice meat and cheese counter and very friendly staff, but it shouldn't call itself a farm shop because it sells far too many things that you can buy in any regular supermarket. No fresh, homemade bread, no eggs (at least I didn't see any), no homemade jam, honey, or sauces. The bread was pre-packaged and delivered with too many additives, just like in a supermarket; you get better quality and healthier things from a bakery. It's a supermarket in the countryside, surrounded by fields, but not a farm shop. As a tourist who happened to be passing by, I expected more. It's also annoying that you can't get into the parking lot with larger vehicles (camper vans).
