Cheesemakers of Canterbury is an artisan creamery at Lamberhurst Farm in Dargate, Kent, making Ashmore Farmhouse and other cheeses by hand from unpasteurised local Friesian and goat milk.
Cheesemakers of Canterbury is a small artisan creamery at Lamberhurst Farm in Dargate, near Faversham in Kent.
Jane Bowyer founded the business in 2007 after more than twenty years in the dairy trade, refurbishing the old dairy at the farm and making the first Ashmore Farmhouse cheddars that May. The recipe came from a retiring cheesemaking couple in Wiltshire, and every batch is still made by hand in the traditional way.
The Ashmore cheeses are made from the unpasteurised milk of British Friesian cows, collected in the dairy's own tanker from nearby Debden Farm in Petham, and Kelly's Canterbury Goat is a hard goat's cheese made with local milk from Ellie's Dairy in Wychling. A growing range of soft cow's, goat's and sheep's cheeses sits alongside them. The cheeses are sold through the online shop, at The Goods Shed in Canterbury, and at open days held at the Dargate dairy.

Lovely people, 👍👍
Great cheeses - better camembert than the imported French ones, industrial and bland. They do nice goaty cheeses, and a cowslip butter (bit of an acquired taste that). All sold at BLEAN FARM SHOP if you prefer to stay north of Canterbury.
Very nice little working cheese makers with a range of local produce. Also sells sausages, preserves but mainly... Cheese!

Don't miss out on their Xmas cheese open days. Rare chance to see behind the scenes at the making and maturing of the cheese - Jane, George and the team do a fantastic job - usually last week before Xmas day.
Really nice cheeses... So for our wedding we had an Ashmore Cheese wedding cake...Farmhouse Cheddar, a Canterbury Cobble and a Kentish Blue, decorated with some nice goat cheese hearts. The guest loved it and more important we loved it and ate quite a lot of it!
