I called in for a nice organic chicken the other day, the wee shop with eggs was open, but all the doors were closed I waited a few minutes but nobody around. So I left, disappointed. And got a chicken out of gogerburn.
Amazing meat.
I don't like putting 1* reviews, yet I've been Hugh grierson customer for 17 years, I absolutely love their eggs and chicken, full of flavor, great quality, yet Past a few years the quality it's not as used to be, coming from Perth with no luck of any product in their caravan, eggs getting smaller and never really there, it takes me 4-6 runs from Perth to be lucky to get one tray of "mini" eggs, past two years completely abandoned to but chicken as the quality is nothing to compare 10 years ago.
Rebuilding the food system, from the farm up
I have ordered through this farm a few times but my latest experience has not been great. They are slightly overpriced (even compared to other organic farms) but I thought it is nice to support a local farm. I made an order two weeks ago, and the first time, the day before the delivery, I was told that there was an issue with their system, so my order hadn’t gone through. Even though I had been charged. Fair, these things happen. They apologised, and asked if I wanted to reorder. I said yes, but asked if they could fulfil it cause I really needed the items. I am travelling and I don’t have enough time to go shopping for food (needed to take the items I ordered with me). They said yes and that it would take them another week. Then, for the second time, a day before the delivery and two weeks after the initial order I just received an email saying that I was being refunded. No email to explain what has happened or just an apology. I reached out and that is when they said they didn’t have the order items even though I had specifically asked them the first time they didn’t fulfil the order. I personally cannot recommend them, I needed those items, specified it and instead of contacting me any time during the week instead of letting me wait they just send me a refund at the last minute.
I've just discovered Hugh Grierson's organic butchery and I'm really impressed! A phonecall to arrange my order was an easy and friendly way to understand what was available and I dropped by to pick up a day later. The communication was excellent, and the quality of the meat was some of the best I have ever had the pleasure to cook with. I also picked up a dozen eggs which have an excellent shell and flavour. I'll definitely be ordering from them in the future.
