Beautiful place, nature. Clean and tidy. With some extra touches to keep guests happy. Easy to find. Downside noise. You could see throughout the floor downstairs and you could hear every step and everything what’s going on in another room. I have stayed in a room above kitchen and could hear conversation from the kitchen, boiling kettle etc.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 10/10 We had an amazing stay at The Old Shire Stables in the Peak District with friends. The location is absolutely fantastic, perfect for exploring the area, and the house itself was incredible — spacious, comfortable, and equipped with everything you could possibly need. Our host was so friendly and welcoming, and really couldn’t do enough to help, which made the whole experience even better. We had a wonderful time and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a memorable getaway.
We had an amazing 2 nights in both cottages in Troutsdale Farm. I cannot praise this place highly enough. The cottages themselves are excellent - really good value, very homely, comfortable beds and spacious. Stepping into them feels like home. The location is great and near to lots of great walks and pubs. Barbara, who runs the place, was so friendly and accommodating from first contact. She was extremely helpful with suggestions for our stay. She made a fresh sponge cake and flapjacks for both cottages, both of which were excellent. She gave our party a tour of the cottages and lots of helpful tips. If I could give ten stars, I would. We will definitely be back and recommending Troutsdale Farm to anyone looking for a trip to the Peaks.
We stayed at the Old Cartshed between the 7th-9th June 2024 to celebrate mine and my friend's birthday. The cottage was absolutely beautiful: very clean, well furnished and decorated. The kitchen was well furnished and there was plenty of storage and fridge space. It was also a great space for socialising and cooking. The views are stunning and just what we wanted for a weekend getaway! There was plenty to do locally- we went on hikes, paddleboarding at Tittesworth Watersports at the nearby Reservoir, and visiting local towns like Buxton. One of our highlights was our host Barbara and her family. They were so incredibly kind, friendly and approachable. To our great surprise when we arrived she had decorated the cottage with balloons, written a birthday card, and baked some flapjacks for us to celebrate our birthday weekend! I would highly recommend staying in the property for a beautiful weekend getaway with friends and family.
Rebuilding the food system, from the farm up

Spent a wonderful 1-week holiday at one of the two holiday cottages. Beautiful views, many activities for all ages in the surroundings. Cottage very cozy, clean and well equipped and hosts very welcoming and responsive.
We stayed for 3 weeks whilst having renovations at home leek. What a great place! Location is amazing, so quite private and peaceful. Such a warm welcome on arrival, including homemade cakes and a tour to show us the ropes. Our stay covered Halloween and such a surprise when we returned that evening with our children, the barn had been decorated beautifully, such a lovely touch, and we were given sparklers on bonfire night. Really cosy, all the amenities, brilliantly equipped kitchen, fab utility room. I worked from here for 3 weeks, conference calls via laptop all worked great. 5 mins drive to Leek town centre. Could not ask for more and have recommended to several people already. Thank you so much to the hosts.
