Laurel Hill Farm and Preserve is a small, diverse farm on Spencer Mountain in Gaston County, North Carolina, about 20 miles northwest of Charlotte.
The farm sits within a 240 acre conserved nature preserve that holds the largest native population of the rare Big Leaf Magnolia in the state, and its keepers see themselves as stewards, sharing the land through volunteering, education and open days.
The farm specialises in naturally raised, ADGA registered Nubian dairy goats and raw goat milk, sold under North Carolina law for animal consumption only. The small herd is hand milked twice daily and fed only organic feed, with no animal by product feed, hormones or antibiotics, and each jar of milk goes straight into an ice water bath before being filtered and bottled. Milk, chevre and kefir run seasonally from about March to August, joined by eggs from humanely raised, pastured hens that forage freely around the farm.
