Regrown' Grounds is a first generation micro dairy farm in Crumpler, North Carolina, in the hills of Appalachia. Carley and Jason care for a small herd of mixed heritage breed dairy cows, named animals like Clover, Lurch and Shiitake, spanning Guernsey, Normande, Jersey and Shorthorn lines, alongside a flock of chickens, Muscovy ducks and large vegetable and herb gardens. They farm regeneratively, with rotational grazing, calf sharing, soil building and native land stewardship.
The milk is raw, non homogenised, cream top cow's milk, sold under North Carolina's pet consumption licence at 10 dollars per half gallon, with a sliding scale offered to anyone who needs it. Cows graze pasture and silvopasture with free access to hay and minerals, plus a ration at milking time, and milk goes from udder to cold storage in under 30 minutes. Milk is available from about June to March, with a three month break before calving.
