City Bird Farm

Selling raw milk is not legal in Ohio, so the farm runs a herdshare instead: members become partial owners of the herd and pay a boarding fee to receive milk from their own animals, milked and bottled on the farm. The herd is seasonal in the farm's own words, starting in spring when the cows calve and ending in late fall or early winter when the herd dries off.

Members choose weekly or biweekly pickup by the half gallon or the full gallon after a one time herdshare fee, and can skip an order by telling the farm before the cutoff. Milk is collected at the farm on State Route 138 in Hillsboro on Thursdays, or on Saturdays at Hawks Run Market in Morrow and American Vintage Warehouse in Chillicothe. Visits are welcome during pickup hours or by arranged appointment, with children supervised and animal areas entered only alongside staff.
