Mary and Danny Curtis have raised purebred registered Nigerian Dwarf dairy goats here since 2016, moving from their five acre home of 15 years in Chapel Hill to expand the farm. The herd is bred for good production on pasture and mixed grass hay with minimal supplementation, and kids are dam raised but handled heavily from birth so they stay friendly.
The farm takes part in DHI milk testing and linear appraisals through the breed registries, keeps DNA on file for all breeding stock, and tests the whole herd yearly for CAE, Johnes, CL, Q Fever and Brucellosis, publishing the results on its site. Alongside the goats the family raises Pilgrim geese and offers a small variety of other farm products from time to time. Farm visits are by appointment only.
