Kestrel Cascadia Farm & Creamery

The family's love of dairy goats started in 2012 as a 4H project for their children, and more than ten years on they raise and show ADGA registered dairy goats. The herd is made up of Swiss breeds, Saanen, Toggenburg and Oberhasli. In their own words they are committed to humane care and welfare, encourage the goats to behave naturally, and describe their milk as free of growth hormones and antibiotics. The creamery holds a WSDA Grade A dairy licence, number 31150.

The creamery keeps things simple: fresh low temperature pasteurised goat milk, and small batch fresh chevre in five flavours, plain, honey, garlic dill, cranberry jalapeno and black pepper. Milk and cheese are ordered through the farm's own online form and collected at the farm on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays, and the farm also delivers to restaurants. Their products are stocked at Chuck's Produce at Salmon Creek and Mill Plain, at Bi Zi Farm and at Butcher Boys Market. The year follows the goats: the milking does are given a break before kidding starts again, so through the winter milk is limited or unavailable and most of what is milked goes into the cheese.
