Hiltonbury JerseysRaw milk, meat & eggs · Winchester4.7 (174 reviews)Hiltonbury Jerseys is a small family run dairy farm at Compton in Winchester, milking around 140 prize winning pedigree Jersey cows on Hampshire grass. The milk is sold raw or pasteurised and is never standardised or homogenised, so the rich, creamy Jersey flavour survives the journey from cow to bottle.
The farm shop sells the milk and cream alongside Jersey ice cream, fudge, Jersey beef, free range eggs, baked goods, local honey and jams, and even a raw Jersey milk soap. It opens seven days a week from 10am to 4pm, with raw milk available from 11am to 3.45pm.
Meadow Cottage FarmRaw milk, meat & eggs · Bordon4.8 (110 reviews)Meadow Cottage Farm is a family run dairy at Headley, near Bordon, built around a pedigree Jersey herd, with a Jersey and Hereford cross providing beef as well. The farm produces unpasteurised milk along with cream and ice cream, all made with the richness Jersey milk is known for.
You can buy direct from the farm, which is open daily from 8am to 6pm, and the produce also travels across the south east through farmers' markets, farm shops, delis and restaurants.
Gambledown FarmMeat · Romsey5 (82 reviews)Gambledown Farm sits on a hill above the Test Valley in Hampshire, with views across to the Isle of Wight. It is a mixed family farm growing cereal crops and forage brassicas alongside a herd of pedigree Beef Shorthorn cattle, with all crops direct seeded into undisturbed ground to protect the soils. The herd was established in 2001 to supply fully traceable beef, and though no longer registered organic it runs on the same high welfare, low input principles, mob grazed on permanent grassland that gets no artificial fertiliser.
Steaks, mince and burgers are sold from the farm's honesty shop, and you can phone or email to place an order. The farm also hosts stays, events and a supper club in its converted barns.
Burntwood FarmMeat · WinchesterBurntwood Farm at Martyr Worthy near Winchester keeps a suckler herd of over 100 cattle and manages them to live as close to a natural herd of ruminants as possible: outside all year round, in one big herd, grazing native grasses, legumes, shrubs and trees with minimal intervention. Calves stay with their mothers for as long as possible, and the farm's motto is simply eat beef, be happy. The cattle are certified 100% Pasture Fed through the Pasture for Life Association.
The land tells the same story. The farm is converting to organic through the Soil Association, with no fertilisers, pesticides or herbicides sprayed since September 2022, and its grasslands have been verified as regenerating under the Savory Institute's Ecological Outcome Verification protocol. The beef, all 100% grass fed and frozen to hold its freshness, sells through the farm's own online shop as burgers, mince, joints and steaks, collected from the farm or delivered locally to the Winchester area postcodes SO21 to SO24.
The Woodland Pig CoMeatThe Woodland Pig Co is Matt and Helen's small farm at Hares Farm near Hook in North East Hampshire, raising 100% free range British Saddleback pigs, outdoor bred and outdoor reared among pasture, orchards and woodland. The pigs form part of a regenerative rotation and eat a home grown barley, wheat and micronised pea mix, with antibiotics used only when truly needed.
Ordering is paused for now. After long running disputes with neighbours and the local planning authority, the farm has suspended operations and closed its online shop, a decision the owners describe as temporary.
