Mary and Stan's son Tim set up Northney Dairy Ltd in 2008 and began making ice cream from the farm's own milk, and the dairy now also bottles semi skimmed milk. Both are sold in the tea rooms his brother James runs on the farm, where tables in the garden look out over the fields and the cattle. It is a mixed family farm growing cereal crops and forage brassicas alongside a herd of pedigree Beef Shorthorn cattle, with all crops direct seeded into undisturbed ground to protect the soils. The herd was established in 2001 to supply fully traceable beef, and though no longer registered organic it runs on the same high welfare, low input principles, mob grazed on permanent grassland that gets no artificial fertiliser.
Steaks, mince and burgers are sold from the farm's honesty shop, and you can phone or email to place an order. The farm also hosts stays, events and a supper club in its converted barns.
