The best farms

  1. 1Carpenters Hill Farm ShopCarpenters Hill Farm ShopRaw milk farm in Redditch4.9 (234 reviews)Straight from the Cow is the farm shop at Carpenters Hill Farm in Beoley, Worcestershire, where the Richardson family have farmed for over three generations. The shop began in 2010 selling their own beef and has grown to over 200 products, most of them home produced and hand made on the farm. The animals graze clover rich grass in the drier months and winter on straw bedding with silage and hay. The counters carry raw milk, beef, pork, lamb, sausages, bacon and gammon, all from animals the family know individually. The shop opens seven days a week and is a short drive from Junction 3 of the M42.
  2. 2Horsepool Farm ShopHorsepool Farm ShopRaw milk farm in Halesowen4.5 (149 reviews)Horsepool Farm Shop is a family dairy farm in Halesowen, home to a pedigree herd of Ayrshire cattle the family have shown with success around the country. The cows are grass fed and out in the fields from spring until late autumn, milked twice a day, and their welfare comes first on the farm. The shop sells the farm's own milk, raw or pasteurised, along with milkshakes in a wide choice of flavours made from their milk with natural flavourings. There is also cheese, cream, yoghurt, butter, local honey, ice cream, free range eggs and a range of local craft ales, gins and rums.
  3. 3Roots Family Farm ShopRoots Family Farm ShopButcher in Worcester4.5 (118 reviews)Roots Family Farm Shop is run by Will and Meg at Rushwick near Worcester, selling organic food raised and grown on their own farm. Will's home raised organic chicken is available all year, organic lamb runs seasonally from September to April, and there are organic eggs, homegrown organic vegetables and flowers grown by Meg. The shop also stocks bakery goods, dairy, grocery staples, fruit and salad, with Ullapool salmon sold through the online shop as well. Pre order meat for the week ahead to collect at Roots or for local home delivery, or visit the farm shop itself on Friday and Saturday.
  4. 4Coopers Farm ShopCoopers Farm ShopFarm shop in Birmingham4.9 (16 reviews)Coopers Farm Shop sells beef from the farm's own pedigree Longhorn herd, known as Withybed, at Coopers Hill Farm in Alvechurch, Worcestershire. The cattle are Pasture for Life accredited, reared on 100% pasture with no grain or soya, and the land is farmed without chemicals or artificial fertilisers, with minimal disturbance of the soil. The beef is seasonal and sold one animal at a time, so an order can take a few weeks depending on where the carcass has got to, with fillet and steaks always going first. You order through the website and collect from the shop, which opens on Saturday mornings.
