Park Farm Butchers
Park Farm Butchers is a Hawkhurst, Kent butcher's shop supplied by the family's own 300 acre pasture farm, selling free range, predominantly grass fed Sussex beef, Romney lamb and free range pork.
Andrew Clarke and his son William farm around 300 acres of Wealden farmland in the parish of Hawkhurst, running a suckler herd of about 40 Sussex cows and a flock of 150 Romney ewes.
The animals graze grass pastures through the summer, with hay, haylage and grass silage made on the farm as the mainstay of their winter feed, and the farm manages wild flower meadows, hedgerows and woodland under the Higher Level Stewardship scheme, with school visits and open days.
The village butcher's shop on Rye Road, opened in 2001, sells the farm's free range, predominantly grass fed beef and lamb with full traceability: a blackboard names the herd and the farm behind the meat on display. Homemade sausages and burgers, dry cured bacon from free range pork, game and produce from like minded local farms fill the counters, and the team runs spit roasts for weddings and events.

Excellent, authentic local butchers. I was only briefly stopping in Hawkhurst - en route from Hastings to Tunbridge Wells, a bus change here, so buy something to take back home to Devon, on the train. Decided to take a look at the Colannade, a row of shops renowned architecturally. Which is when I discovered Park Farm Butchers. The Olde Sussex sausages are really superb. Probably the best sausages I have ever tasted 👍 I will later buy some more online, to order.
