Orchard Park Meats is a family run farm at Lurgashall in the South Downs selling grass finished beef, lamb and pork direct at monthly on farm Meat Up days.
Orchard Park Meats is the meat side of Orchard Park Farm, a family run farm in the South Downs National Park at Lurgashall, near Petworth.
The farm started in 1995, gaining its first flock by swapping a puppy for six sheep, and now runs about 150 cattle and 300 breeding ewes across more than 1,000 acres of pasture, woodland and heathland. The herd is mostly native Sussex and shorthorn cattle, with a mixed flock of Southdown, Jacob and Texel ewes. Beef and lamb are grass finished on mixed pastures and meadow hay, and the farm says no fertilisers or growth hormones are ever used.
Meat is sold directly at monthly Meat Up days on the farm, where you can buy fresh cuts from the fridges, collect a pre-ordered beef or lamb box, walk the fields and gardens, and meet the family. Joe, one of four brothers, is lead herdsman and shepherd. The farm says its whole beef herd is due to gain organic status.

You’d be forgiven for thinking you were lost, but after a few minutes going up a single-lane track that time forgot you reach a clear sign for the farm. Comprised of 3 fields, two primarily for camping and part of a larger farm with horses nearby it is pleasantly nestled in hills. The barn at the lower field also has showers (though no benches for stuff / places to change) and a fun playground with 3 in-ground trampolines, a zip-line, pull-up bars and a stupidly large (ex-promo?) deck chair that everyone loved to climb on. The upper field has its own toilets as part of the horse field and a full kitchen for large scale cooking and backs onto the woods. Two large military parachutes have space for wood turning, carving, fires and more. It’s also where you can pick up trails into the woods. You do need to be a member to stay, but can join easily with an associate membership. Just be warned, there may be some campfire songs; ) Note: this was a visit during Aug 2020 where pitches were assigned in bubbles and no formal activities were taking place.
