Bert Woodham
Farmer and co-owner
Bert was raised farming by his father and now runs the family's grazing operation of cattle, sheep, goats and pigs, adding bee hives to the farm more recently.
JBW Farm Fresh is a family farm and farm store in Dothan, Alabama, selling its own grass fed beef, lamb and goat, pasture raised pork, eggs and raw honey.
JBW Farm Fresh is the farm store of Bert and Lisa Woodham, whose family farm sits on US Highway 84 west of Dothan, Alabama.
They raise cattle, sheep and goats that are grass fed and grass finished, along with pasture raised pork. Their own words are plain about it: the animals are grain free and hormone free from conception to consumption, and are never given growth hormones or grains. The farm is run on regenerative principles, using multi species rotation, cover crops and holistic grazing to build the soil.
The store on Pilgrim Road sells the meat by the cut and by the half or whole animal, alongside chicken, chicken eggs, quail and quail eggs. Bee hives went in on the farm and the raw honey is extracted, strained and poured straight into the bottle. They also make tallow and lard soaps, lotions and balms from their own animals. Farm tours run through the year, so you can walk the pastures and meet the herd.

It was a great visit. We went for lunch with the intention on buy meats & milk. They had a great variety. I bought 4 packages of meat, goat, pork, chicken mutton. Along with milk, peanut butter ball and bread pudding. For lunch they were serving hamburgers. Best Burger in quite awhile. Eventually I would like to buy ALL my meats from local farmers. Thanks y'all for a great visit.
$20 for a frozen pizza just to have it make a mess in my oven.
Being from the city, I haven’t encountered many farmers markets in my years; however, my time visiting JBW Farm Fresh totally makes up for that. At JBW Farm Fresh, the employees and the owners are so kind, friendly, and thoughtful. I got to see what healthy and ethically sourced meats, produce, and eggs look and taste like; and the ground beef is the best I’ve ever purchased, as is the chicken stock. There is a vast quantity of different kinds of meat, for example: lamb, beef, and pork including options of various sections of meat that are healthy, but often are forgotten about as those parts aren’t usually found at certain grocery chains. Furthermore, I bought their sweet kisses hand lotion, and their sweet kisses soap; I love each and the soap lathers very well, it lasts a nice while too. I am sincerely looking forward to coming back, there’s just so much to love about JBW Farm Fresh. Thank y’all!: )

Love, love, love the heart and integrity of this farmer and this amazing farm!! Happy healthy animals, contributing to the beautiful rich soil, which then grows all the food that feeds the animals! I wish we lived closer - this would be my number one weekly stop for responsibly raised meat, eggs, raw milk, etc….
Nice big store. They were even serving breakfast. I look forward to watching them grow.
Best carrot cake on the planet!!
An amazing store and a good selection of meat and other products. Definitely recommend to stop by and take a look.
Great place service was great a good selection of meats allway have bought my meats from Johnsons but they are closed on Monday so I've found me a new place to get fresh meats.
It was my first time here. Will have to bring family in when in town. They don't have stuff this fresh. Lots of gifts, natural and local products. Very nice owners. Clean and organized shop. It's not a typical meat market. Much better. Looks like a local favorite. Support locals and pay cash.
I was a little surprised after cooking up one of their ribeyes, the steak seemed like it'd be good, I personally didn't try much of it, but the person I cooked it for didn't like it, understandably, didn't seem like it but once they cut into the steak it was giant chunks of fat, a large portion of the steak was just fat, and it wasn't any type of marbling. This was also the type of fat that was very hard to chew, Wouldn't come back for it, especially at the price. We'll have to see how the pork ribs turn out. Edit - purchased yesterday on June 17th, I don't feel comfortable posting my full name here.
It's a bit more expensive than other farms around, but very nicely organized with pleasant service.
