Providence Homestead is a small raw milk dairy in Orrville, Ohio, milking a herd of Jersey cows kept on pasture and hay.
The milking, bottling and care all happen on the farm, visitors are welcome to come and see how it is done, and the herd is in the process of becoming certified organic.
The farm cannot sell raw milk directly, so you join the herd instead. A one time fee of $50 buys you a share, making you a part owner of the cows, and a weekly boarding fee covers their feeding, milking and care. Each share entitles you to a gallon of raw milk a week, collected from the farm.
