Cast Iron Farm

The family has worked with cows as Cast Iron Farm since 2010 and specialises in Brown Swiss, big docile heritage breed cows whose milk carries excellent protein and fat, along with some Brown Swiss and Jersey crosses. Every cow is tested A2/A2.

Raw milk is offered through a herd share. The cows graze rotationally managed pasture when the weather allows, winter on alfalfa and orchard grass hay in a dry, well bedded barn, and at milking are fed alfalfa pellets and less than one percent of their body weight in rolled barley. The milking parlor is open for public inspection daily and the farm is listed with the Raw Milk Institute. Milk is reserved for each day and collected at the farm, with a farm tour and raw milk handling introduction at the first pickup. The farm also milks sheep and makes smoked pecorino.
