The Goat Project is a small goat farm in Bennington, Vermont rotating a Nubian herd through pasture and selling goat milk soap plus fresh chevre and feta through local shops and restaurants.
The Goat Project is a small goat farm in Bennington, Vermont, started by farmer Becca Knouss in 2015 with her first five goats: Luca, Paulie, Indigo, Nettle and LP. Before that she worked on farms from biodynamic cow and goat dairies to organic vegetable farms, and always came back to goats. Today the family farms eighty acres, rotating a herd of Nubian goats through rolling hills of clover, native grasses and goldenrod, with hedgerows of wild roses, honeysuckle and apple trees where the goats truly delight.
The farm is best known for its goat milk soap, a lightly scented, moisturising bar made with milk from the herd, organic olive oil, organic coconut oil and essential oils. There is fresh chevre and feta too, stocked by shops and restaurants around Bennington, Shaftsbury, Manchester and Dorset, and over the state line in Williamstown, Massachusetts.
