The family started keeping goats after their eldest daughter, who could not tolerate cow's milk, thrived on goat's milk as a child, and they breed for strong, heavy milking does using foundation stock from the well regarded Kismet herd in nearby Pearisburg.

The farm sells duck eggs and chicken eggs direct to customers and to retailers, and takes call list orders for chicks and ducklings from heritage lines including French Black Copper Marans, Salmon Faverolles, Welsh Harlequin, Khaki Campbell and Muscovy. Goat milk soap and lotion made from the herd's milk are on pause while the recipes are reworked. The farm's blog is warm and personal, full of stories from hay making, kidding season and life with the poultry.
