Peaceful Heart Farm

They milk pasture raised Normande and Jersey cows, farm chemical free with rotational grazing, and make small batch artisan cheese from the raw milk, alongside keeping St. Croix sheep and American Guinea hogs.

Selling raw milk outright is illegal in Virginia, so the farm runs a herd share. You buy a share of the herd, pay a monthly boarding fee, and collect raw milk, cheese, butter or yoghurt each week at the farm or at the Independence Farmers Market on Fridays. The farm store opens Monday and Tuesday from 10am to 12pm, Wednesday and Thursday from 10am to 6pm, and Saturday by appointment.
