We had such a wonderful experience at Braehead Farm in Fredericksburg with our 2-year-old! If you’re traveling with young kids, I can’t recommend it enough. The amount of playground equipment was incredible—there were so many different areas for toddlers and young children to climb, slide, swing, and explore. Our son could have played there for hours. The farm also has a great variety of animals, and what really made our visit unforgettable was the kindness of the staff. Because it was such a hot day, we practically had the farm to ourselves. One of the staff members took the time to personally walk us around, introduce us to all of the animals, and even coax them out so our son could get a better look. It felt like we had our own private farm tour, and you could tell they genuinely cared about making it a memorable experience. Between the playgrounds, the animals, and the incredibly friendly staff, Braehead Farm was easily one of the highlights of our trip. If you have a toddler and are anywhere near Fredericksburg, this place is absolutely worth the stop!
This was such a cute place! The farm is beautiful, the staff is lovely and kind, and the products are fresh. My mom and I went for some local fresh produce, which were so worth it. The prices are affordable too. They offer jarred items, cider, jams, jellies, preserves, butter, produce, bakery goods, dairy items, meats, etc. Even it being smaller than what's around, it definitely worth stopping by.
Just a bit of farm life open for kids to pet and see farm animals, pick fruit or vegetables that are ripe and some of the best butter pecan ice cream i ever had.
Rebuilding the food system, from the farm up

thanks to trooper it was a lovely time! all their fruits and vegetables looked amazing. Definitely the best blackberries and raspberries you’ll taste. their raspberry lemonade is a must! The animals pens were nice and clean. They are very well taken care of and if you see trooper, he loves ear scratches! I was told this is a family owned farm, which we love❤️ Everyone there was very kind and sweet definitely would go back!
This place is locally owned for over 100 years and a part of Fredericksburg history. The lovely worker Carmen welcomed me and my family in with open arms and a positive attitude. She gave us the history of the place and explained where everything is from and was just a breath of fresh air. They have everything locally made if it wasn’t made there. The milkshakes are phenomenal, we got the strawberry and cookies / cream. We also got some fresh produce and honey which is phenomenal. Carmen made the experience a worthwhile one and truly made me enjoy the time there. She says they will have watermelons soon and blueberries fresh for picking or just picking up by maybe next week (start of July) so I look forward to coming back for some fresh blueberries and watermelon. Thank you Carmen. You’re the best!
Disappointing experience. Playground not as advertised. Only two lamas and a few chicken, old cheap and damaged plastic toys/balls. Poorly designed (too steep) dangerous slides for kids. Farm equipment too far for children to observe or experience. Oh the play sand piles are full of dust. Need to bring proper washed sand to prevent inhalation and kids alergy. Overall bad experience. Not recommended until properly rehabilatated.
Strawberries!! We had so much fun going to Braehead this weekend to pick our own Strawberries. Two baskets at $6.99 a pound. They will last longer than store bought produce. Then we got some pickles and jelly from the market. They had some Apple Butter, with no sugar added! Before we left, we had a cone of ice-cream, each under $5. It was delicious! They source their dairy products from south Maryland. Over all it was an amazing time outdoors with my family.
Strawberry picking is our favorite time time to come out to Braehead (but it’s not the only time we come here). They provide the buskets for 1.00 and you can pick as much or as little as you like. It’s great for families to enjoy a day out and collect fresh fruits and vegetables. There is no shade in the fields so if you come on a sunny day, make sure you have a hat and wear sunscreen. I also recommend wearing boots or shoes you don’t mind getting dirty. Lastly…respect the rows, don’t eat directly off the plants, and only pick ripe fruit. You’ll have a great time.
Hidden gem! We found this place on a whim. Lots of stuff to do for all ages to be honest. Lots of play area for kids, tire swings, swings, hammock swing, balance beams, volley ball net, cornhole, tether ball, farm animals (cows, chickens, donkeys, horses, pigs, bunnies, alpacas, sheep etc) also they have fruit and veggie picking. Everything is reasonable price wise! Plus who wouldn’t want to support a small local business! We will be returning to this cute little farm!!
