Braehead Farm

Always a great time.

It was interesting to see a farm so close to the city.this facility is original and worn many of the walking surfaces are uneven and cracked and the animals were a disappointment. The staff was pleasant and helpful, glad I went won't be back.

You can enjoy all time, and for the month that we are right now, enjoy all, each bottle in the management floor area for having on your home and let with everyone. In here you are grabbing the vegetable or fruit in the habitat and in their own vine if you prefer that way. With the long area for all age children to be on companion with other one playing here, or even picture an animal real adventure for a child to view them in action. Or bring your own team and let them go playing around. In one part they can do their practice game or relax from any game they came from. By the way if you are in the hay fanatic, here plenty hayride, play, buy for your own garden home...

Great place for anyone with little ones who need a safe place to burn some energy. Enclosed free range play area with easy visibility across the entire area. Playground structures, picnic tables, corn play box, hay barn, big pile of dirt for the boys to play on, good shaded options, friendly and attentive staff. Small but great farm market store with jams, meats, ice cream and bakery goodies. Be prepared to use porta potties. Not as many animals as we thought, but that’s ok. I’d consider it more of an outdoor play experience in a lovely farm setting than an educational field trip—but that said, we didn’t do an organized tour. Great vibes all around!

The farm is ok, is been years since I've been there and it's much the same as it was when my son was little. My biggest complaint is that soon after arriving my daughter and I used a picnic bench which has wet paint??? There was no sign anywhere so I ruined my clothes, hers and our diaper bag. When I mentioned it they just kind of said oh yeah we were working on stuff over the last few days, I can try to get a sign up. There were also no facilities to attempt to clean up, only portable potties and a barn sink.

Everyone was so friendly. My family and a friend's family met here for a playdate before dinner. Many other families and children playing here as well. Dirt piles, playground, swings, oh my. The kids loved it. My husband and I enjoyed the farm store with delicious fresh homemade pumpkin muffins and a variety of hot sauce.

thanks to trooper it was a lovely time! all their fruits and vegetables looked amazing. Definitely the best blackberries and raspberries you’ll taste. their raspberry lemonade is a must! The animals pens were nice and clean. They are very well taken care of and if you see trooper, he loves ear scratches! I was told this is a family owned farm, which we love❤️ Everyone there was very kind and sweet definitely would go back!

This was my first visit to Braehead farm. I had a great time looking around. It’s convenient and right downtown. They have fresh produce, eggs, milk, ice cream and more. I plan to return to pick blackberries and blueberries soon.

This place is locally owned for over 100 years and a part of Fredericksburg history. The lovely worker Carmen welcomed me and my family in with open arms and a positive attitude. She gave us the history of the place and explained where everything is from and was just a breath of fresh air. They have everything locally made if it wasn’t made there. The milkshakes are phenomenal, we got the strawberry and cookies / cream. We also got some fresh produce and honey which is phenomenal. Carmen made the experience a worthwhile one and truly made me enjoy the time there. She says they will have watermelons soon and blueberries fresh for picking or just picking up by maybe next week (start of July) so I look forward to coming back for some fresh blueberries and watermelon. Thank you Carmen. You’re the best!

Strawberry picking is our favorite time time to come out to Braehead (but it’s not the only time we come here). They provide the buskets for 1.00 and you can pick as much or as little as you like. It’s great for families to enjoy a day out and collect fresh fruits and vegetables. There is no shade in the fields so if you come on a sunny day, make sure you have a hat and wear sunscreen. I also recommend wearing boots or shoes you don’t mind getting dirty. Lastly…respect the rows, don’t eat directly off the plants, and only pick ripe fruit. You’ll have a great time.

Hidden gem! We found this place on a whim. Lots of stuff to do for all ages to be honest. Lots of play area for kids, tire swings, swings, hammock swing, balance beams, volley ball net, cornhole, tether ball, farm animals (cows, chickens, donkeys, horses, pigs, bunnies, alpacas, sheep etc) also they have fruit and veggie picking. Everything is reasonable price wise! Plus who wouldn’t want to support a small local business! We will be returning to this cute little farm!!
