The provided cast iron pans and utensils were rusted and non usable. There was trees that have fallen on paths making them unusable. They say they have a “pond” that you can fish in but in fact it’s like a cesspool. The picnic table was broken on one said and the whole over all property needs maintenance. The owner got hostile after we stated our problems. I would NOT recommend camping at this location or purchasing food products due to the areas conditions.
Is the chicken hand slaughtered Zabiha?
Good one.
Update 2024 I decided to drive again for almost two hours for our Qurbani and I am glad I did. Again, we had a great time. The farm doesn't have a commercial feeling which gives less stress. It has family friendly envirment. Highly recommend it for your Qurbani needs. ==================================================== Better than expected! My family and friends had a great time at the farm. The farm wasn’t crowded at all and there was ample help to process the slaughtered animal. The farm is about 90 miles drive from my area and I am glad that I decided to choose this farm for Qurbani, this year. Thank you so much for all the help and facilitating this event during Eid-Ul-Adha! Best, Imtiaz.
Loved the experience. The farm seemed well managed and clean. They had stations for kids and games to keep them busy. The process for sacrificing options and the information they share in terms of qualitative care and diet really meant a lot to me. It was my first time sacrificing a lamb and the help and guidance was very beneficial. Highly recommend their services and their produce and goods.
This farming family is competent, friendly, and health conscious. I visited this farm by chance and found the most amazing story and loads of new fun facts. You can't beat finding a place that is mostly youth led with resilience and love. Double minority (BIPOC woman) owned. I highly recommend a visit!
One of the most kindest, honest, and clean family owned farms I’ve experienced. We drove about 2 hours to purchase our halal lamb on Eid and it was a great experience. The lamb was handled with such care and attention during the slaughter process, which made the lamb taste really delicious. We also purchased 3 dozen large eggs from their free range chickens. The eggs were beyond delicious and very healthy. Will definitely continue to order from them. Great and honest family mashallah.
Fitrah Farms is a small family farm in Gordonsville, Virginia raising halal pasture raised chicken, grass fed beef, lamb and goat, with raw A2 milk herd shares and soy free eggs.
Fitrah Farms in Gordonsville, Virginia raises poultry fully outdoors on pasture. Meat chickens live in mobile coops that shift to fresh grass every day, laying hens range freely across open ground, and the farm avoids antibiotics and hormones entirely, leaning on natural remedies such as garlic, apple cider vinegar and pumpkin seeds to keep the flocks healthy.
Little goes to waste here. The farm puts the whole animal to use, composting remains into fertiliser for its pastures and gardens, tanning hides and grinding bones. Meat is sold directly from the farm, open Monday to Friday from 8am to 5pm.
