Fifth generation of the Smith family, a crop science graduate whose 2016 Nuffield Scholarship set the farm on its path of producing food using nature instead of chemistry.
Loddington Farm Shop is a regenerative fifth generation family farm shop near Maidstone in Kent selling home grown produce, farm eggs, outdoor reared pork, venison and Owlet fruit juice.
Loddington Farm is a fifth generation family farm in the Kent countryside near Maidstone, run by James Smith, whose great great grandfather first grew apples on the land.
The farm has turned away from chemical farming: no synthetic fertilisers or herbicides are applied to the soils, fungicides and insecticides are being phased out, and the focus is on rebuilding soil ecosystems and growing nutrient dense food, with apples and pears still at the heart of the farm alongside the Owlet fruit juice pressed on site.
The award winning farm shop opened in January 2024 and was named among The Times 35 best farm shops in Britain. It sells as much of the farm's own fresh produce as the season allows, plus the farm's own eggs, slow grown native breed pork reared outdoors, venison and juice, alongside food and drink from carefully selected Kent producers. A cafe in the courtyard behind the shop serves breakfast and lunch.

Great juices, pies, sausage rolls and sweet treats.
Great products, but can be pricey.
Great range of GF products. Unhurried cafe with tasty food and good coffee.
I love this farm shop. I purchased a turkey for Christmas one year and it was great. The local drinks and coffee are also brilliant and the sourdough bread...yummy.

Lovely little cafe but not much indoor space if busy. I had sour dough toast with avocado, grilled tomatoes and portobello mushrooms, which was delicious. The shop itself has lots of yummy treats and I came away with fresh strawberries and pear juice.
We visited the farm shop today. What a lovely experience, so much variety and choice. The staff were so helpful and friendly. We then went to the farm to pick some pumpkins, which my granddaughter (6) loved. We were then able to wander through a large flower area, with a small vase for my granddaughter and two much larger containers for my daughter & I. We spent a peaceful, happy times choosing our flowers, cutting whatever flowers we liked. We all had a very special time. We had some lunch there, freshly cooked and delicious. Our flowers were wrapped by a friendly, helpful, lady. Such an enjoyable time. I can highly recommend visiting.
Great collection of organic foods including bakery, poultry, Owlet brand fruit juices made without any added sugar or preservatives from their Loddington Farm. Prices reasonable when compared to supermarkets and very neatly packaged. Also freshly grown seasonal vegetables and fruits sold in the farm shop.
Visited on only their third day of opening at their new venue on Heath Road. Fantastic selection of very fresh fruit & vegetables. Wide variety of local, made in Kent, food stuffs. Chilled & frozen too. Added bonus of the Kampa Coffee cafe in the shepherds hut trailer out at the back. I had the best-tasting cup of coffee, so much so that I had to have a second. The warm sausage rolls are beyond description, just try them. I’ll definitely be making repeat visits.
