Great owners and workers. Great set up for private events.
Albert is one of the most unprofessional humans I’ve ever encountered. Instead of displaying an ounce of customer service in the realm of understanding butcher fees, he cancelled and refunded my full cow order without even speaking to me. I called to ask why he canceled and refunded it, and he said he “assumed” I didn’t want it because I asked a question about butcher fees. Evidently he has PTSD from providing customer service to previous ex-clients. So when I said “no, I still want the full cow”, he said okay. Calls me back 30 seconds later to tell me he has a 1/2 cow for me, and when I displayed frustration, professionally, as a consumer client, that I ordered and put a deposit for a full cow, his response was, verbatim: “you can take a 1/2 or nothing at all” in the most rudest manner. I don’t know who these people think they are. We don’t need your beef, we wanted it. There’s a difference. We went to Castle Rock’s farm dinner a couple seasons ago, and enjoyed our time there, but this encounter put a sour taste in my mouth. We could have bought at Twin Lakes Farm, Packsaddle, Lazy JM Ranch, Roots Project Farm, or a number of other farms. These people don’t value their clients, their relationships, or how a business should be ran. They only care about their ego. There’s a huge lack of customer service, professionalism, and more importantly, understanding the damage they do to working families who rely on big purchases like this to feed their families. We have a small farm in Athol with chickens, pigs, ducks, and turkeys; and ordered this cow at the beginning of 2025 to help feed our family. I doubt we’ll be able to find another full cow somewhere else this late in the game. If there’s anyone left at Castle Rock with an ounce of respect, I would hope they would call me back and provide what I ordered. If there’s not, then I’ll bet my paycheck that Albert or whoever runs their page, will just deflect and attack me somehow/ someway.
This is the idea place to come for summer camp, horse back riding, and getting to experience life on a ranch. Albert, Jordan, and their staff are amazing, you will feel like family and a real cowboy. The facilities are great, food is delicious and I heard they even host weddings. It is a beautiful ranch, and I can’t wait to go back.
Rebuilding the food system, from the farm up

Truly a life changing experience been going here for years and I love this place to its core.
Amazing people and animals. Great place to escape out of the city to, highly recommend!
This place has it all--beautiful scenery, cute animals, tasty meat, and excellent camps for adventurous girls. My daughter has benefited greatly from her time here, and I have enjoyed a very relaxing and comfortable stay in one of their wall tents. Highly recommend a visit!
I could not be happier with my experiences at Castle Rock Ranch over the years. There’s something magical about this place that keeps you coming back year after year. Whether it’s galloping a horse in the pasture, or floating on the river, you’re bound to find something to fill your days with endless fun.
Such a magical environment, welcoming staff, and incredible well taken care of horses. Will definitely be coming back!
