ME Water Buffalo Co.

The family began raising water buffalo in 2008 after a chance first meeting with one, and in 2013 became the first water buffalo dairy in the state. Jessica Farrar and her family raise the herd for its exceptionally creamy milk and healthy meat, pasture feeding the animals on grass and hay with no hormones, chemicals or additives.

Every dairy product is made in the farm's Maine state licensed creamery from the unpasteurised milk of its own herd, in small hand mixed batches: hand stretched mozzarella di bufala, burrata, creamtop yogurt, fromage blanc, buffeta, whole milk ricotta, Sicilian style gelato and rich creamline milk when available. There is USDA inspected water buffalo meat and whey fed pork too, plus farm tours, calf encounters, farm camp and farm stay glamping, all arranged ahead rather than by dropping in.
