Whitney Farmstead is a regenerative farm near Ann Arbor, Michigan raising 100% grassfed beef and lamb, pastured pork and chicken, and making wood fired maple syrup, sold direct at its farmstand.
Whitney Farmstead is a family farm in Webster Township on the rural northwest edge of Ann Arbor, Michigan, where Malaika Whitney and Matthew Haarklou have farmed for eleven years on land Malaika's great great grandparents began stewarding in 1900.
They raise 100% grassfed beef and lamb and pastured pork and chicken, practising regenerative ranching with rotational grazing, perennial forages and heritage breeds, and each spring they make traditional wood fired, hand collected maple syrup.
Everything the farm produces is sold directly through its own farmstand and the local farmers market, with a few other local outlets in season. The price list runs from grassfed ground beef, steaks and marrow bones to lamb chops, mutton and offal, and a draft horse named Buster still helps move fencing supplies around the farm. Matthew also runs a custom sawmill and timber framing workshop, and the farm newsletter carries stock updates, farmstand dates and farm stories.

This is a biased review as the Whitney’s were my neighbors for many years and my friends. Low impact, restorative farming, organic, free range, whatever you want to call it this is who they are. A centennial farm run by 4th generation farmers who do it the healthiest way possible. Amazing food, the real deal!!! Saturday 11-2 be there stick up, eat well and save the planet.
