Bastrop Cattle Company began in 2006 when rancher Pati Jacobs took over the cattle business on her family ranch and chose to sell grass fed beef directly to her Central Texas neighbours rather than through auctions and feedlots.
The herd is grass fed and finished with no corn or grain, no added hormones, no antibiotics and no vaccines, raised on three family owned ranches in Bastrop and Fayette county and given locally grown, chemical free hay in winter.
This is an online only business with no retail storefront. Customers order half or whole cows and beef bundles through the website for delivery or shipping, with turnaround typically 2 to 3 weeks, and questions are handled by text.

Our order with Bastrop Cattle arrived on time in secure packaging. The cuts of meat were labeled and our order included instructions on how best to prepare the meats when cooking. The communication with Bastrop was excellent and I knew exactly when my order was arriving and what to expect. This was my first time ordering from a farm and it looks like I found my forever beef supplier.

Great, clean, lean beef. The first time we got a quarter cow we weren’t thrilled with a few of the cuts, but we also didn’t take the time to speak with them about the cuts we wanted. The second time we got half a cow we did take the time to speak with them and got exactly what we wanted. To those complaining about tough stakes, might I suggest investing in a sous vide. Before chemicals, hormones, and all the other crazy stuff was put into store-bought meat, this is what cow meat was. It’s naturally fairly lean. Grateful we can get a hold of it so close to home.
