Ingredients
- 1 scoop Organised
- For the mash
Method
Add the carrots, onion and celery to a pan with a little tallow and cook over a medium heat until soft.
Add the mince and cook until browned all over.
Stir in the garlic, tomato puree, bone broth, Organised, bay leaves and thyme. Bring to the boil then reduce to a simmer for 40-45 minutes. You'll know when its ready when the bone broth has reduced down and its not super runny.
While the mince is simmering, boil the potatoes until tender. Drain and mash with the butter, milk and a good pinch of salt until smooth.
Spoon the mince into a baking dish, top with the mash and finish with a generous handful of grated cheese.
Bake at 200°C until golden brown on top, around 20-25 minutes.
The story
Liver, heart and kidney; that’s what’s in this cottage pie and I promise you’d never know.
When I started to introduce organs into my diet the easiest way was to adapt my usual staples and give them a little organ twist. Most butchers are selling fortified mince these days and that’s what I’ve used to make this cottage pie. I’ve also stirred in a scoop of Organised, it disappears completely into the sauce and gives you an extra hit of organs and nutrients without changing the flavour.
I don’t think anything beats a homemade cottage pie on a cold autumn day.
