We couldn’t recommend this butcher more! Great lamb assortment! Good value!
Uniquely Achill. Don't hesitate to stop in and have a chat with the ladies there. Top Ackill lamb we just could not get enough of it during our stay. Great butchers.
You must buy and eat achill salmon & lamb burgers or sausages, you won't be disappointed 😋
Couldn't recommend Achill Lamb highly enough. I have bought lamb when I have been on holidays over the last few years but decided to buy a full lamb for my parent the last time we were in Achill. It was sent to their home in Kerry in perfect condition, boxed, bagged and labelled perfectly. The taste from the meat is just amazing. So much so my parents bought another lamb and this was just as nice. As my father said, no other lamb compares to this and he is dead right. Well done to Achill Lamb.
Rebuilding the food system, from the farm up

Top class produce. I bought the full lamb in a box portioned for the freezer. The outer box was clearly labelled “food produce”, all portions inside were well wrapped and labelled and a recipe booklet was included with lots of Calveys Achill Mountain Lamb recipes from celebrity chefs. We have never eaten so well. Lovely Sunday roasts, late suppers of liver and onions, chops midweek and still plenty of cuts left in the freezer. Great value for all the dinners we are getting out of it. It took up 2 full shelves. Freezing had no impact on the taste. You can’t go wrong with this lamb, defrost the joint the night before, slow cook it covered on a bed of onions, garlic, carrots or whatever is in the fridge with red wine, chicken stock, herbs and tomato purée, or follow one of the recipes, it comes out perfect every time. You can read all about the welfare of the animals on the website and the happy lives they lead. Customer service was great, Grainne kept in touch by email and we look forward to calling into the shop someday when we visit Achill Island.
