Patrick and Jenny McNally converted the ground to organic growing in 1997 and have been certified organic growers for more than 25 years. All five of their children now work in the business. The land is a mix of polytunnels and open fields, and the growing follows the seasons: tomatoes, peppers, chillies and salad under cover through the summer, brassicas, root vegetables and cooking greens in the fields.
Everything is picked by the family and sold straight to customers, either at the farm shop and cafe on the farm or at their weekly Dublin market stalls in Temple Bar, Glasnevin and Naomh Olaf. The shop also carries bread, dairy, eggs and deli items from other producers alongside the farm's own vegetables. The cafe serves coffee and home baking, and guided farm tours run through the year.

Ian Mernagh's grandfather bought the castle and its farmland in 1920 and the family have worked the land ever since, keeping the wild flowers, the ancient stone walls and the native Irish wild bees that live in them. Ian bought two hives in 2015 and began breeding his own bees. From those first two there are now almost sixty production hives in apiaries across the farm and the surrounding countryside.
The honey is raw and unpasteurised and contains nothing but honey from their own bees. Because the family manage the hives directly, they know exactly which apiary every jar came from. The range shifts with the season and takes in a summer blossom honey and a softset honey, alongside beeswax candles and honey chocolates that Marie and their daughters develop. It trades online as All About Nectar.

Most people meet the farm through its organic boxes, which have gone out since 2006 to Galway, Mayo, Limerick and Dublin, and by courier to the rest of Ireland. You can take a set box or build your own from fruit, vegetables and groceries. The farm shop opens every Saturday from 10am to 5pm for freshly cut produce, zero waste refills and a wander through the polytunnels to see the crop still growing. The two rescue pigs, George and Florence, live on site.

Every jar is 100 per cent raw and unpasteurised, never heated and never finely filtered, and it is single origin, so the label tells you which apiary the honey came from.
Nothing is bought in from other beekeepers, so the range follows the season and some harvests, such as the pressed heather honey, sell out and stay gone until the next year. The core range is spring blossom, summer blossom, soft set and a hot honey. The honey has won Great Taste awards since 2017. A coffee shop does home baking, and a food van serves hot food at weekends. Kunekune pigs and pygmy goats live on the farm and visitors are welcome to walk around it. About 200 of them are milked twice a day. Cheese has been made in this townland since the early 1980s, and Siobhan Ni Ghairbhith has run the business since 1999.
Everything is still made by hand in small batches in the dairy on the farm. The range runs from the fresh St Tola Log and the ash coated log to a Greek style cheese kept in brine, small crottins, the harder Karst, and jars of cheese in rapeseed oil with chilli, garlic or garden herbs. Cheese can be bought straight from the farm on weekdays, and the farm runs tours that take in the milking parlour and the goats.
