St Tola Irish Goat CheeseFarm shop · Ennistymon4.7 (56 reviews)St Tola is a goat farm and cheese dairy at Gortbofearna, near Inagh, on the southern edge of the Burren. Around 300 goats of the Saanen, Toggenburg and British Alpine breeds live on 65 acres of herb rich pasture, grazing wild flowers such as buttercups, meadowsweet and wild garlic, and eating hay grown on the farm through the winter. About 200 of them are milked twice a day. Cheese has been made in this townland since the early 1980s, and Siobhan Ni Ghairbhith has run the business since 1999.
Everything is still made by hand in small batches in the dairy on the farm. The range runs from the fresh St Tola Log and the ash coated log to a Greek style cheese kept in brine, small crottins, the harder Karst, and jars of cheese in rapeseed oil with chilli, garlic or garden herbs. Cheese can be bought straight from the farm on weekdays, and the farm runs tours that take in the milking parlour and the goats. - 2
Lúnasa FarmRaw milk & meat · Clarecastle5 (19 reviews)Lúnasa Farm raises grass fed beef and pasture raised pork at Clarecastle in County Clare, farming in a way that aims to mimic nature, build biodiversity and improve the soil. The beef is grass finished, and the range runs from steaks, roasts and mince to bone broth, tallow and their award winning garlic and herb beef sausages.
There is also charcuterie, fermented vegetables and raw milk, and the farm runs workshops too. Order through the online shop, or call to the butchery on Friday or Saturday morning, where you can buy fresh or frozen over the counter with no need to pre order. - 3
Glendree Organic FarmFruit, veg & eggs · Feakle5 (10 reviews)Glendree Organic Farm is a family holding high in the Slieve Aughty hills of east Clare, between Tulla and Feakle. Mona and Harry Muller work it along organic and biodynamic lines, certified organic by Organic Trust, and they still plough with draft horses. Cows, goats, sheep, hens, ducks and bees share the ground with a vegetable garden, herb beds and a heritage orchard of apples, pears and plums. The land sits inside a Hen Harrier Special Protection Area, and the family joined the Hen Harrier Programme in 2018 and became Farming for Nature ambassadors in 2021.
Vegetables and herbs are grown for the house and for sale, and the farm also raises seed for the Irish Seed Savers Association nearby. Ordering is simple and old fashioned. You pick from the seasonal list on the website before eleven on Saturday morning, then collect at the farm that afternoon during daylight. Payment is cash, and you are asked to bring your own box or bag, or borrow a crate for a ten euro deposit. - 4
Moy Hill FarmFruit, veg & eggs · Lahinch4.8 (9 reviews)Moy Hill Farm sits at Lackamore, just inland from Lahinch on the west Clare coast. It is certified organic and run on holistic grazing and agroforestry lines, and it has held Savory Institute Ecological Outcome Verification since 2021, an independent check on whether the soil, water cycle and biodiversity are actually improving. Cattle are raised on pasture, hens range for their eggs, and a market garden carries vegetables through the seasons. Fergal Smith farms here with a small team, and the farm trains interns each year.
There is a farm shop at Lackamore, open every day from nine until six, unmanned and run on honesty with cash and card both accepted. Boxes can be ordered online for collection at the farm, with local delivery around Lahinch and Ennistymon, and there is a small CSA box subscription. The farm stands at Ennis market on Friday mornings and at Ennistymon on Saturdays from May to December, and its vegetables, beef and eggs also reach shops, cafes and seven local restaurants. - 5
B. Molloy Master ButchersMeat · Ennis5 (3 reviews)B. Molloy Master Butchers has been cutting meat in Ennis since Brendan Molloy opened on Abbey Street in 1962. His son Derek runs it now with his wife Olivia, and he also keeps the family farm at Quin, where the shop's beef is reared. The farming leans on grass, with cattle out grazing for much of the year and grass silage carrying them through the winter. A second shop opened at Roslevan Shopping Centre on the Tulla Road in 2005, so the same beef is sold at both ends of the town.
The counter is a traditional one. Beef is dry aged on the bone and cut to order, from T bone and tomahawk to striploin and rib eye, alongside lamb, rack of lamb, pork, poultry and their own sausages. They do charcuterie and will prepare cuts to request. The shop has taken Great Taste awards for its dry aged beef and lamb, was picked out in the Bridgestone guide in 2012, and belongs to the Irish Butchers Guild. - 6
Burren Premium BeefMeat · BostonBurren Premium Beef comes from the O'Rourke family, fifth generation farmers in the Burren, where a centuries old, rock steady way of organic farming suits the UNESCO designated limestone landscape. Their grass fed Hereford and Angus cattle mature slowly, and the beef is matured for 28 days before it is packed.
Buying happens through the Burren Farm Experience website, where 10kg and 20kg beef boxes mix steaks, roasts, dice and mince, alongside small batch charcuterie of salami, chorizo and bresaola made from the farm's own organic beef. The family also run private farm tours and a farmstay in their refurbished farmhouse, so you can meet the herd yourself.
What visitors say
Amazing products at this farm and factory! However don’t go unannounced as they do not do many tours anymore. Great cheese, specially the karst!

It will be impossible to buy meat anywhere else once you try Lúnasa! Nothing compares to the quality and the taste is just incredible every time. Organic, pasture raised and no additives. Exactly how it should be. Great to see fantastic producers like Lúnasa raise the standards!

This is a great butcher in Ennis. This is a great location too right in the middle of the town. They have a great selection and offer many good package deals. The staff are knowledgeable and lovely and are always happy to help with custom orders.
