Great property, delicious breakfasts including homemade yogurt, omelets and French toast. Fun trail right on the property. Even all the animals have a laid-back, relaxed, friendly demeanor which mirrors that of Darcy (the proprietor). Oh, and perhaps the coolest dog in the whole world, Layla! The room AC was a little quirky, nothing serious. Otherwise the room would also be 5 stars. If you find yourself anywhere near Salida, this is the place to stay.
So glad I found this place. I much prefer to stay in a rural environment. Mountain goat lodge fit the bill perfectly. Stayed in one of the trailers. Enjoyed it very much. This is a farm. I personally like farm things like goats, chickens, turkeys, and wandering dogs. If you don’t, you probably want to consider staying some place else.
Their 5 star rating is earned in two ways. Gina, the chef, served the best breakfasts I have ever had at a lodging establishment, true farm-to-table cooking. Equally delightful is the beautiful, tranquil farm setting in a mountain valley. This one is a gem: we will be back.

Guna and Darcy are wonderful hosts. They run a truly amazing B&B in Salida. Its a working goat farm. Layla is sweet hard working guard dog. We stayed in one of the campers and had an absolute wonderful time. Its was quiet and romantic in the camper. Cozy and comfortable. Gina makes the best goat milk yogurt! The Huevos Rancheros she made one morning was incredible! We are anxious for our next visit! Larry and loved our time there.
Rebuilding the food system, from the farm up
We stayed at the Mountain Goat Lodge Bed & Breakfast in May, 2026, on Highway 285 and is easy to find. We had a wonderful time with wonderful hosts! We enjoyed petting the baby goats, feeding the chickens, ducks, turkeys, and Violet the cow! You can sit out on the deck and watch the many variety of hummingbirds drink from all the feeders. There is a hot tub that overlooks the mountains. There is a library upstairs in the lodge with a desk, chairs, books to read, games to play, and artwork to admire. You do not want to miss breakfast! Breakfast is served every morning from 8: 00-9: 00. It was homemade and delicious! Gina made the best apple dumplings, in fact, she is a wonderful chef! The yogurt made from goat's milk was the best I have ever had, and is served with a variety of fresh fruit. Juice and Coffee are available. Also, you can request any type of coffee drinks like espresso or latte, and D'Arcy will make it for you. We met wonderful guests at breakfast every morning and enjoyed our conversations. Our 3 day stay was so relaxing and fun, that I am going back with my daughter and granddaughter to Mountain Goat Lodge!
Cannot say enough good things about our stay here! This was our second time renting a tipi here- the bed is very comfortable, has a great view of the farm, woken up by the sounds of the farm birds and got to go watch their very friendly farmhand milk the goats the next morning (he let us try to hand milk too!). The food was delicious and we loved sitting on the porch watching the baby goats play and all the hummingbirds flying around. The owners are very friendly and make you feel welcome right away. Will be going back in the fall so our kids can enjoy this magical place!
My wife and I had one of the best weekends together in many years! We celebrated our anniversary at the lodge and were so impressed with the place. We stayed in the Antero room. The location was great (easy to get into town, yet away from the bustle). The farm was super unique and very involved if you wanted to be. The breakfast was INSANE (Gina is a GREAT cook) and the rooms were clean and comfortable. We will be back soon!
What a beautiful setting for our peaceful, relaxing stay! You both make perfect welcoming hosts, and we couldn't have enjoyed ourselves more. The cheese making class was fun and informative, and we even got to take the results home with us. (And yes, I'm remembering to flip "Guido" each day!) Your memorable breakfasts and the bonus time we spent with you Sunday afternoon just put it over the top! Give our best to David, too, and all the friendly goats we got to meet.
