Two Sparrows Farm is a grass based livestock farm and dairy in Eaton Rapids, Michigan, run since 2012 by first generation farmers Dan and Whitney Belprez and their five children.
The herd, mostly pure Jersey, grazes intensively managed pasture from April to December, and the family makes 100 percent of its own winter forage. No chemicals, herbicides, pesticides, synthetic fertilisers, hormones or prophylactic antibiotics are applied to the land or the animals; lactating cows receive only a supplemental non GMO grain at milking.
Raw milk is offered through a herdshare, the only legal route to fresh unprocessed milk in Michigan, picked up weekly at the farm or a drop location and tested frequently for safety. The farm also raises grass fed beef, finished on pasture using the same grass based methods, and pastured pigs fed vegetable scraps, milk from the dairy and non GMO grain. Dan teaches organic practices at Michigan State University, and the farm hosts MSU field day tours.
