Joyous Acres is a Nigerian Dwarf goat farm in Freeport, Michigan, where everything begins with care for the land, the animals and the people who bring its products home.
The ADGA registered herd is tested every year for Johnes disease and CAE and has been disease free since 2019, and kids are raised through a mix of dam raising and bottle feeding so they grow up healthy and well socialised. From the milk the farm handcrafts natural soaps, lotions, candles and lip balms with no harsh chemicals.
The farm runs a raw goat milk herdshare: members buy a fractional ownership in the dairy herd and collect their share of milk each Friday, from a quarter share of about a quarter gallon a week up to a full share of about a gallon. The milk is raw and unpasteurised, handed over in returnable glass jars. Joyous Acres also sells farm fresh chicken eggs and registered goats, and hosts goat visits, goat yoga and events on the farm.
