Chris Creek Ranch is a third generation family ranch at Greenbush in northwest Minnesota, selling raw milk at the farm gate, Hereford breeding bulls and beef tallow balms under its own label.
Chris Creek Ranch sits on County Road 103 outside Greenbush, in the far northwest corner of Minnesota, and is run by Cole and Brooke Christianson.
Cole's grandparents, Ray and Lillian Christianson, started Chris Creek Dairy here in 1963 with 30 cows and milked for 30 years. Ray died in 2017, and Cole began buying the ranch around that time. Cole and Brooke married in July 2022, and today the place carries cattle, Katahdin sheep, horses, almost 30 free range chickens and a jersey guernsey milk cow.
Raw milk is sold at the farm gate. It is whole and unskimmed, from a three quarter jersey, one quarter guernsey cow that is calf shared, so the cream she gives varies through the season while she is raising a calf. Customers bring their own glass gallon or half gallon jars and collect at the ranch. Alongside the milk, the family keeps purebred Herefords and a commercial cattle herd and sells bulls as breeding stock, Brooke breeds AKC registered Australian Cattle Dogs and brought her own dog program, Borderview Aussies, to the ranch when they married, and there is a small skincare line under the Chris Creek Ranch label: whipped tallow balm in lavender chamomile and vanilla latte, and a vanilla bean tallow lip balm.
