East Lohman Acres is a family dairy farm at Lohman in Cole County, Missouri, about 10 miles west of Jefferson City.
The herd is registered A2 Jersey cows, grazed on organic pasture every day and fed organic grain, and the family names every one of them: Annabelle, Tessa, Rose, Opal, Emma, Petunia, Snickers and Taffy. The cows are machine milked and the milk goes straight into the farm's own cooling tank to chill it quickly. Raw A2 milk is sold by the half gallon or the gallon in plastic jugs, or as a weekly subscription in half gallon glass jars, from one jar a week up to eight.
Alongside the milk the family sells raw skim milk, cream and butter churned from their own cream, plus pasture raised organic beef, pork, chicken, lamb and eggs, chicken liver, seasonal produce, bags of organic dairy, broiler and layer feed, and soaps and skincare made by Little Seed Farm. Orders are placed through the farm's own shop and collected at the farm store, which is open 10am to 7pm Monday to Saturday and closed on Sunday, and delivery is available with an online subscription. The farm was interviewed as one of the first farms in the Home Grown issue of Jefferson City's City Magazine.
