Yesteryear Farm is a family raw milk herd share in Shiloh, North Carolina, delivering cream topped raw milk weekly to members across northeast NC and the Outer Banks.
Yesteryear Farm runs a raw milk herd share serving northeast North Carolina and the Outer Banks.
North Carolina prohibits the sale of raw milk for human consumption, so the family offers shares of their milking herd instead: members buy a portion of the herd, pay a monthly care fee, and collect their own cream topped milk each week from the farm or a drop point. A whole share is a gallon a week and a half share is half a gallon.
The cows are on pasture around the clock outside the winter months, when they move to a bedded pack and eat free choice grass hay while the pastures rest, supplemented with a locally milled dairy ration. The farm does not routinely give antibiotics, and any treated cow leaves the milk line until her milk is clear. Milk is tested monthly against the Raw Milk Institute common standards, and the herd is vet cleared for brucellosis and tuberculosis.
