Sunnyside Farm and Health Foods is a 15 acre farm at Knotts Island, North Carolina, half a mile south of Virginia Beach near the Intracoastal Waterway.
Building soil, animal and human health is the farm's stated priority: the mixed Alpine and Saanen dairy goats and the chickens move frequently onto fresh pasture, all feeds are non GMO with organic feeds and supplements used whenever possible, and no pesticides, herbicides, antibiotics, vaccines, hormones or other synthetic chemicals are used on the farm.
Raw goat milk comes through a herdshare: members buy a share of the milking herd and collect fresh milk each week, starting with a short email or text and a signed agreement. Free ranging layers provide eggs, and broilers raised in field shelters moved at least once a day are sold as whole frozen birds, with stewing hens in limited supply. The on farm store also carries herbal tinctures and salves from Natural Hope Herbals and natural health supplements. Visitors are asked to call for directions before coming.
