Windy Acres Dairy Farm is a small scale, grass fed dairy in Prineville, Oregon, run by owner Billie Johnson.
The farm runs a Central Oregon raw milk herdshare, and says its focus on animal welfare and pasture based nutrition reflects a simple truth: healthy, happy cows produce the best milk. Members receive creamy, grass fed A2/A2 raw milk, with delivery to pick up points across the region.
The farm is best known locally for its raw milk cheeses, and also produces raw cream, butter, ice cream, yogurt, kefir, buttermilk, colostrum and sour cream. Traditional farmhouse goods fill out the range: raw and unpasteurised honey in several varieties, pastured chicken and duck eggs, sourdough breads and pies, jellies and jams. Visitors can volunteer at the farm, and wholesale enquiries are welcomed.

Good stuff...a must experience.
All I have to say is yuck.
Where to begin? Unfortunately the lard wasn’t rendered correctly, and it smells and tastes strongly of burnt bacon. The real issue is the cheese, and as a home that literally has a cheese drawer, it is a bummer that I have to write this but I spent almost $100 on cheese, brought it to a holiday party and the “the Jill”, Havarti, and Caraway was so bad it was thrown away and spit out, it was SO embarrassing! My friend and I had a less than friendly interaction with the women who checked us out, dare I say rude (maybe she was having a bad day?), and we left wondering if we had been overcharged. She didn’t weigh or scan anything (cheeses were all different sizes and not previously priced on a label) before telling me my 4 cheeses, small jam, and lard would be $82. For that price I expect good quality and tasty food. The Parmesan was technically eatable but didn’t taste anything like Parmesan, zero tang, all funk, with a strong blue cheese taste. Ironically the Gouda was the only “gooda” cheese from the haul. I really hate having to write a negative review but money is tight and grocery bills are high for everyone these days. I’m left almost $100 out with only one cheese and a pepper jelly to show for it. We really love to support local women owned businesses in this family but it was an odd and disappointing experience all around.

Place needs cleaned up, prices are high, cheese is good.
Billie is really great at the Farmstead and I appreciate how hard she has worked for alot of years. She's greatly inspiring and a blessing to our community, bringing us the best quality dairy around and keeping us all in the best health possible. I enjoy helping her when I can. Thank you Windy Acres Dairy & LORD GOD Bless you!
